Roblox Lua Programming

Quarter Life: Roblox Game Builder (Dad Points Challenge) is a creative, game-based learning experience designed for kids ages 10–13. Guided by 5 quests and an end-of-day quiz system, participants earn Parent Points by building their own Half-Life-inspired Roblox game called Quarter Life — a concept originally imagined by George Lecakes' son during his iD Tech Summer 2025 course at Princeton University.

Each “quest” focuses on a new programming or design concept, from making explosions and blinking lights to creating interactive traps, escape rooms, and custom textures. The course is tailored for beginners with no prior coding experience, gradually building technical confidence and creativity through hands-on play. However, we do expect that your child knows how to use Roblox and has used Roblox Studio in a ‘non-programming’ way.

By the end of the course, students will:

  • Understand basic Roblox Lua scripting

  • Design and test interactive game mechanics like traps and timers

  • Create and apply custom textures and user-recorded sound effects

  • Gain confidence in logic, sequencing, debugging, and presentation

This course is parent-supervised, where you decide what rewards should be provided by the ‘parent points’ your child accumulates.

Each day, try a new quest over your summer. It’s perfect for families looking to combine fun with foundational tech education — no expensive subscriptions or software required.
