Unity + Generative A.I. : 03
Replace Sprites, Backgrounds, and UI
In Unity + Generative AI (Part 3), we focus on the most practical step: taking AI-generated artwork and making it actually work inside a real Unity game. You’ll see exactly which parts of the project are designed to be replaced (player sprites, scrolling background tiles, and UI images) and the simple drag-and-drop workflow to swap your own assets in—no prior Unity experience required. Watch the video here: [PASTE YOUTUBE LINK]
This is also where the “real world” side of generative art shows up: game assets have constraints. You’ll learn what to check when importing images (transparency, sizing/scale, and the difference between SpriteRenderers in the scene vs. UI Images in a Canvas), so your generated art doesn’t look correct in the tool but fail in the project.
If you want to follow along, you can download the full Unity project + a playable EXE for free from my Patreon. Grab it here, then swap in your own AI art and see how far you can push the look and theme of the game.
