Rowan University | Dreamscape Learn Experiences
Immersive learning designed at Rowan University to explore science, history, decision-making, and professional readiness
At Rowan University, immersive learning is not just about using virtual reality in the classroom, it is about creating meaningful educational experiences that allow students to step inside complex systems, historical moments, and real-world challenges in ways that traditional media cannot easily replicate.
Under the direction of George Lecakes, PhD, Director of Immersive Technology and Learning, Rowan is actively developing original Dreamscape Learn content that brings together narrative design, interactive systems, and academic purpose. These projects are built to support instruction, increase student engagement, and create new models for how immersive technology can be used across disciplines.
The experiences below reflect Rowan’s growing role as a creator of Dreamscape Learn content. Each module is designed around a different educational objective, from disaster response and anatomy to professional development and early American history, while sharing a common goal: helping learners understand ideas more deeply by experiencing them directly.
CASCADE is Rowan’s disaster management experience, placing learners inside a high-pressure crisis scenario where they must evaluate unfolding conditions, make decisions, and manage limited resources across a threatened region. Designed to support systems thinking and consequence-based learning, the module helps students understand how infrastructure, risk, and human impact intersect during emergencies.
Perfusion is an immersive Anatomy & Physiology experience that takes learners inside the cardiovascular system to explore circulation, oxygen delivery, and the relationship between physiology and pathology. Through guided travel into the heart and vascular system, students encounter the human body as a living, dynamic environment rather than a static diagram.
Soldier’s Watch introduces learners to the Revolutionary era through a story-driven journey that begins in childhood, grows into responsibility, and reveals how everyday life could suddenly be shaped by war. Designed for K–12 audiences, the experience emphasizes human perspective, historical atmosphere, and interactive discovery to make early American history more tangible and meaningful.
Business Etiquette is a professional readiness experience that helps students practice the behaviors expected in internships, part-time roles, and early workplace settings. By guiding learners through a day-in-the-life workplace simulation focused on communication, time management, professionalism, and personal presentation, the module turns soft skills into something students can actively experience and reflect on.
